Request sketch for ateaspoonofhappy! Sorry if this is weird, darling, I’m not too familiar with Classic Who!

(other requests are being worked on, and my ask box is always open for more! BUT GLEE IS ON RIGHT NOW, OMG)

Gah!

Sooo cute. I love that Turlough’s being a grouch even about cute baby animals. I love that snarky little butthead so much. :P

“Doctor, why is this fawn nuzzling me?”

“She’s simply saying hello.”

“Do you think she can sense that the first time I watched Bambi’s mum die, I laughed?”

“If she’s not aware of it yet, it’s best not to bring that up amongst present company.”

Doctor Who rant.

psyconorikan:

So I have to ask the Whovian community about classic WHO fans. And no, I’m talking about all of them when I ask, but why are classic WHO fans so cynical and demeaning when it comes to “NuWho” and its fans as they call it? I’ve never seen a fandom that’s so damn bitter about it’s own fucking fandom. You guys do realize it’s all Doctor Who right? It’s all connected to the same story.

Why so cynical guys? I really wanna know. Is it because you feel some kind of weird sense of elitism just because you’ve seen what a lot of “NuWho” fans haven’t seen? It makes no sense to me.

Is it because it’s different? I always thought Doctor Who revolved around change? Not to mention a gap of what? Two decades between the old series and the new one? No shit, it’s going to be different.

I started watching series 1 of classic who, and that’s cool. But really, who cares? That doesn’t make me above those in the fandom who haven’t seen the old series. I don’t know. This has just been bugging me so I thought I’d post about it. People who act this way need to grow the hell up. Just saying.

Anyways, that’s all I gotta say.

I really don’t mind how much Doctor Who a fan has watched. If they enjoy the show, then they enjoy the show, and they’re a fan, even if they’ve only watched Matt Smith or if they watched every available episode made from 1963 onwards, read the books, listened to the audios, and perused the comics. I still haven’t finished watching it all, believe it or not, but am I any less of a fan because of it?

I think some classic Who fans take issue with the nuWho fans who don’t seem to want to acknowledge that the Doctor has had meaningful relationships before the new series. At the very least, fans should be aware that the Doctor is 900+ years old (and possibly a lot older than that) and during that time he’s had dozens of people traveling with him. Focusing on a single Doctor/companion relationship while devaluing all the other companions frustrates me. It makes everyone else less important, but they are all important. He loves them all. My favorite trope in the media I consume is the found family, and the Doctor has a gigantic family. I love that about the show. And when fans act like they don’t care about all those other companions, that sort of flies in the face of one of the things I love most about Doctor Who.

Is that cynicism? I’m not sure, but like I said, I get frustrated when the last 50 years of the show is ignored.

And that’s all I have to say about that. I really shouldn’t attempt thinky-thoughts so close to bed. :/
